2024 Programme

Our host venue at the ExCeL Center has a storied sports history, having served as home to seven Olympic sports in 2012. But since then, it has been home to a range of events, including some of the most ambitious like Formula E, which has run its high-tech cars literally through the middle of the center during races, and equestrian events that require their own unique logistics. In this session, hear from building officials on how they’ve adapted to serve different sports, and how the venue has accommodated everything from race cars to horses.

One month out from the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the Olympic movement is preparing to welcome spectators back for the first time in years. And when they show up on site — or watch however they will from home — they are in for a host of new experiences. In this session, hear from international federations and others involved in the event on what’s new on the program and how these Games will differ from all those that came before them. 

Esports events are no longer emerging: They are here and part of the permanent landscape of events. In this session, hear from leaders in esports at all levels on where they’ve seen the industry come but more importantly, where they see it going. How can your sport organization, destination or hotel get more involved in esports? What will events look like in the years to come and what will they require to produce? We’ll answer these questions and more in this important session on one of the fastest-growing segments of the industry.

The pandemic was a reset of sorts for all aspects of the sports-event industry, and perhaps no more so than in the world of hotel management. Years later, the industry has adopted many new best practices, even as visitors have come back in big numbers. From hotel rates to staffing challenges to opportunities for those booking group travel, this session will take a deep dive into what’s happening at hotels now and what your group can expect in the immediate future.
